Even though Dothan is looking to raise its sales tax, some surrounding cities say they are staying put.

Abbeville Mayor Rhett Thomas says he doesn't plan on proposing an increase any time soon.
“Well, that's just one thing the city has never discussed. Plus, an additional tax levied on the citizens would just be something they would not like. We've never discussed it.”
Ozark leaders say a one percent sales tax increase would give the city over a million dollars a year and increase pay for city employees by seven percent.
