The Bay County grand jury issued 2 indictments Thursday afternoon in the case of a robbery-turned-murder. The two suspects are now facing first degree murder charges.
The indictments charge 19-year-old Nicholas T. Lee and 24-year-old Amy Beth Cucco with first degree felony murder and attempted robbery with a firearm.
Bay County sheriff's investigators say Lee and Cucco shot and killed convenience store owner Vish Patel at his Fountain store about 9:30 on the night of November 13th. Authorities say the motive was robbery.
But when Lee confronted Patel as he walked from his home to the store, Patel began arguing with Lee. That's when Lee allegedly shot Patel with a rifle.
Lee and Cucco were arrested early the next morning, along with 3-others charged with related crimes. Deputies say Cucco helped plan the crime, with Lee.
If convicted of murder, Lee and Cucco could face death or life in prison without possibility of parole.
