Ft. Rucker Combat Readiness Center

The Combat Readiness Center at Fort Rucker works to reduce any loss of soldier life.

CRC collects information from soldier fatalities, whether accidental or combat, and finds ways to prevent them.

The CRC trains officers through safety courses in the classroom and out in the field.

When an accident occurs the CRC investigates the death, briefs commanders and looks for trends, then notifies soldiers through websites, magazines, anything that raises awareness.

There's been a 12 percent decrease in accidental soldier deaths over the last year

“The reason we've had a decrease in accident fatalities is because we have leader involvement. They are actually getting out there and interacting with them,” said COL George Bilafer.

But there has been an increase in combat fatalities, which is attributed to the war in Iraq.
