Dothan is looking for ways to slow down drivers who speed through neighborhoods.
Dothan traffic engineer Charles Metzgers says adding more stop signs, speed humps, even islands to narrow the roads are a few ways to slow down speeders.
The more problematic areas are in the Chapelwood and Grove Park subdivisions.
“Anything that can be done is truly appreciated. We have children that frequently play here, we have The Terrace which is an assisted living facility here in Grove Park, we also have over 200 families that live in the area,” Mgr. Judy Harris of Grove Park Subdivision Project.
City officials say more research is needed before approving what's called, 'the traffic calming' plan.
