The director of the veterans cemetery, Quincy Whitehead, said
the first burials are scheduled for next spring.
Whitehead said the first phase of the project includes space for
a thousand caskets and cremation sites, plus a temporary building
on 12 acres.
Whitehead said the second phase is scheduled to begin next and
will include the construction of permanent buildings, landscaping,
irrigation work, a memorial walkway and a flag assembly.
Any honorably discharged veteran is entitled to a burial plot at
