Dothan Apartment Complex Fire

A fire in Dothan leaves families homeless for the holidays.

The blaze started about 3:30 Saturday afternoon. Dothan firefighters responded to the scene on Edgefield Drive in Chaelwood. There they found a fully involved fire.

It took MRE than half an hour to bring the fire under control. Officials say no one was injured during the fire. The buildings are a total loss, meaning the building cannot be salvaged.

Chief Randall Helms with the Dothan Fire Department said, "It had already gotten into the overhead before our arrival, across four apartments, so that let the fire get ahead of us fast."

The fire spread throughout four apartments within the one complex. Dothan fire marshalls are investigating the cause of the fire.
