WEST POINT, Miss. (AP) - Birmingham-based Southern Family Markets announced it will close twelve stores in Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi on August 12th as part of a plan to streamline the grocery chain.
The Alabama stores are in Clanton, Dothan, Meridianville and Moulton. Eight stores in Georgia and one in West Point, Mississippi, near the Alabama line also will close.
Southern Family Markets operated 99 stores as of June and is an affiliate of food distributor C-and-S Wholesale Grocers of Keene, New Hampshire.
