Wiregrass officials believe lightening may have caused a weekend house fire in Geneva.
Early Sunday morning, flames destroyed Lucille Smith’s home on live Oak street.
Geneva firefighters were assisted by the Samson Volunteer Fire Department.
Built in the 1930's, the 5-bedroom house is considered one of the historic homes in that city.
Fortunately, the 98-year-old Mrs. Smith along with her daughter, were next door at the time and no one was injured.
The Tuscaloosa resident says years of memories and antiques were destroyed in the fire.
The family says they have insurance but they've lost pictures and other items that can't be replaced.
