Coffee County Emergency Management Director John Tallas says it's the first step in forming an important alliance with surrounding counties and states.
Tallas received unanimous support from the Enterprise city council in forming a mutual aid pack.
The Elba town council approved the same measure last week.
Tallas says it'll permit city personnel to help surrounding communities in the event of a hurricane, or some other emergency situation.
Those employees will in turn be paid through FEMA.
"I would come to the city for employees if you have signed the document. Then you take an account of the hours worked and send it in to the state and receive the payment," said Tallas.
Following Hurricane Katrina last summer, Tallas says the state and federal governments are working to improve the readiness and response time of personnel following a natural disaster.
