Possible consolidation plans could soon impact Fort Rucker.

The number of wounded and ill soldiers being admitted into its new coordinated care unit is declining.

Now, officials expect to be able to shut down or merge some of the centers.

Those warrior transition units under review for possible closure or consolidation generally have a small number of patients are close enough to another unit that they can be combined.

Two of the 10 under consideration include Redstone arsenal at Huntsville and Fort Rucker in Daleville.

A representative from Fort Rucker tells News 4 that there very few soldiers at the WTU at Fort Rucker and if they decide to close it, Fort Rucker wouldn't be deeply affected by that change.

There's still a clinic that will be able to help soldiers and those in need of a WTU can be transported to another location.
