Dothan police will soon be getting a new way to communicate while out in the field.
Tuesday, City Commissioners approved a new radio system to replace the 13-year-old one.
This radio system, provided by Southern Linc, should be installed within the next couple of months.
It will serve as a temporary fix to the $12 million in repairs needed for the city's communications system.
A department of justice grant, which totals a one-time cost of $27,000, followed by an additional monthly cost of about $9,400 is making the communication improvements possible.
