Power went out on the Southside of town sometime after 8 a.m, leaving morning traffic backed up on Ross Clark Circle and Highway 231.

Richard Ash, The Electric Operations Superintendent of Dothan Utilities, says a gain switch at the Howard Johnson burnt out, and as a safety feature for line worker, electricity was automatically turned off.

Several traffic lights stopped working including Selma Street, Park Street and South Oats.

Utility workers restored power around 9 o’clock; it was out for about 45 minutes.
