Fashion Designer on Trial for Rape

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The serial rape case of fashion designer is
in the hands of a Angeles jury.

Anand Jon Alexander's defense attorney told the jury during
closing arguments Friday that his client should be acquitted
because his accusers are lying to get revenge.

Prosecutors say Alexander humiliated and degraded nine naive
girls who came to Hollywood with dreams of fame and should be found
guilty.

The 34-year-old fashion designer faces 27 counts, including
forcible rape and committing lewd acts on a child, stemming from
assaults that allegedly happened between 2001 and 2007.

The alleged victims ranged in age from 14 to 21, and most were
aspiring models.

If convicted of all counts, Alexander faces up to life in
prison.
