The Wiregrass Area Food Bank will now be able to help feed even more people in need.
Through community donations, the organization bought a huge freezer to store food. The 16 by 24 foot freezer is nearly three times the size of the Wiregrass Food Bank's old freeze and can hold up to 32 pallets.
The food bank was able to secure $50,000 through local donations. Now instead of volunteers having to manually bring items in, a forklift can do it.
The old freezer will now be converted into a refrigerator so the food bank can continue to donate the three million pounds of food they do annually.
