The latest robbery happened Thursday morning in Ozark. Police say there were several similarities between this armed robbery and others in the Wiregrass.
Two black men entered the shell station on Highway 231 north in Ozark. They forced the clerk behind the counter at gunpoint and made a getaway on foot with the cash, all in 36 seconds.
“I recommend convenient store proved two personnel until caught,” said Deputy Chief Eddie Henderson of Ozark Police.
Store manager Fred Wood has been working at the gas station for four years.
He was never been robbed before but after the other recent area robberies. He isn't surprised by this one.
“Had heard was possibility and were more observant,” said Wood.
Officials from Dale County, Houston County, Dothan City, and Ozark were at the station to put the evidence together to find the robbers
Investigators are comparing previous robbery footprints to some found beside the creek behind the Ozark store.
Officials think the Ozark robbery is connected to other robberies in Ashford, Dothan, Eufaula, Ozark and possibly Florida.
“They are possible not from this area,” said Nick Monda of Dothan Police. “We haven't received any info but we are hoping for some.”
Ozark police will be accompanying store clerks to work in the morning for protection.
The store clerk wasn't injured, just shaken up. But authorities are worried if these two aren't caught soon someone might get hurt if not killed.
The only description authorities have are two black males, one is tall and slender.
