The hunt is on for the person or persons responsible, for a rash of robberies in the Dothan area. So far two suspects have been arrested, but authorities say more may still be on the loose.
Since Saturday morning, there have been five robberies in Dothan area. All of them except for one happened during the very early morning hours.
Two suspects in those robberies have already been arrested and charged. However, officials are now looking at the possibility that the other three robberies may be related.
The Fast Track convenience store on Ross Clark Circle has only been open for about a month but one of its clerks has already fallen victim to an armed robbery.
"Two individuals entered the Fast Track wearing masks, long sleeve shirts, and gloves. And apparently they used some kind of long weapon, possibly a shotgun," said Capt. Nick Monday of Dothan Police Dept.
The robbery happened at around 6:20 am Saturday morning and less than 24 hours later, the Wendy’s on the Southside of the circle as employees were getting ready to close up the shop.
"The perpetrators walked into the business while the employees were doing their cleanup activity, and once they were inside, they forced the employees to the floor and committed the robbery," said Capt. Monday
Late Monday morning, authorities say two masked men, dressed in black, one of them with a gun, barged into the Express Cash Advance store on Montgomery Highway. They took off on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
All three robberies were similar in nature.
"It may be the same person or persons that may be committing these crimes," said Capt. Monday.
That is why police will now patrol around convenience and check cashing stores, with a careful eye, late at night.
