Brundidge Waste Treatment Plant

A foul smell filled the morning air in one Pike County city.

Brundidge has had an odor coming off its waste water treatment plant for the past few days.

That's due to an increased chemical load into one of its sludge cells.

Brundidge City manager, Britt Thomas says people living in the community, however, are not in any danger.

“It's sewage that's being treated and released into the environment, into a creek. Normally the smell is very minimum and normally it's out there,” said Thomas.

Waste water treatment officials say the smell should be back to normal in about week.
