For the last 44 years, a confederate flag has flown above the Confederate Park in Crestview, Florida. But the nation's largest civil rights organization wants it to come down.
The issue has caught the attention of top officials with the NAACP.
A delegation from its Atlanta office will be at the Crestview City Council meeting Monday. The flying of the confederate flag is expected to be on the agenda.
An Okaloosa County NAACP representative tells News 4 that several television networks are also expected to be in attendance.
A local NAACP representative says the flag represents racism, hate and bigotry. The Sons of The Confederacy say the flag is a piece of southern history and not a symbol of racism.
