So far during the long July fourth holiday weekend, Alabama State Troopers report at least seven traffic deaths on Alabama’s rural roadways.
One of the accidents happened in Montgomery County.
Troopers said a Montgomery County woman died early Saturday on US 231.
Troopers said 54-year-old Pauline Goodwin of Ramar was reportedly walking in the middle of the highway when she was hit by a car.
It happened about 12:45 am, about eight miles south of Montgomery.
The department of public safety estimates that 20 people could die in accidents on state Highways over the 102-hour holiday travel period that ends at midnight tomorrow.
