The Alabama Department of Transportation is joining the city of Dothan, to install surveillance cameras to help change traffic light signals.
Usually, there would be a sensored loop implanted in the ground to detect cars that pull up to the light and determine when the light should change.
With recent state construction on area streets, the sensors could be pulled up during roadwork, causing the city several hours of manpower and money.
The first set of cameras will be installed at varying intersections at West 84, later on this year.
