Isaacs Execution

The nation's longest serving death row inmate has been put to death in Georgia.

Forty-nine-year-old Carl Isaacs was executed Tuesday evening for helping kill six members of the Alday family on May 14, 1973.

Appeals kept him on death row for nearly 30 years. The U.S. Supreme Court refused to block the execution.

The killings sparked legislation in Georgia that requires victims' families to be notified of developments in death penalty cases.
