The Coffee County Republican Women's Club held a debate in Enterprise Wednesday for the two GOP sheriff candidates that will square off in next month's runoff election.
Dave Sutton was the only candidate who showed up for the debate.
Enterprise policeman, Ricky Barnes, told News 4 that he was unable to attend. Two-weeks-ago with three candidates in the Republican primary, Sutton Led Barnes by four-percentage points which forced a runoff.
Sheriff Sutton says if elected, he is ready to lead the department in facing the growing drug problem.
Sutton urges folks to vote during the July 18th runoff.
"We plan on winning this election and winning in November. And I plan on being sheriff in January. But our campaign is gearing to turn out the vote. We need folks to vote one more time," said Sutton
The winner of the July 18th runoff will face Enterprise policeman Lance Tindol in the November general election.
Tindol defeated incumbent Sheriff Ben Moates in the Democratic primary earlier this month.
