Junk Metal to Buy Food for The Needy

A faith-based ministry in central Coffee County has come up with a unique way to buy food for the needy.

New Brockton mayor-elect Lenwood Herron is assisting that town's mission center with the collection of scrap metal.

Over recent weeks, congregation members have been collecting old white goods like refrigerators and washing machines.

In addition to old cars by turning it over to several Wiregrass junk dealers, the money raised goes into the purchase of food.

Several New Brockton mission center members believe they haven't seen the worst, they expect food needs to increase around the upcoming holiday season.
