New Brockton Run-off Election Controversy

Tuesday, the results were certified in a highly controversial municipal runoff election. Mayor-Elect Lenwood Herron hopes to move his hometown away from allegations, and back on track with future needs.

In last Tuesday’s municipal runoff election, Herron defeated Roger Harrison by eight votes.

For the open New Brockton mayoral seat, longtime incumbent Charles Cole decided to retire.

But Cole bitterly contradicted vicious rumors circulating of alleged election tampering by City Clerk Annette Williams.

Mayor Charles Cole of New Brockton says, “I want to make a public statement in support of Miss Annette. She did everything right by the book in the election, and I want to dispel any rumors to the contrary. She would not do anything intentionally wrong even for me, and I support what she does."

Mrs. Williams thanked Mayor Cole for his support. Those looking to contest the election results must file the necessary paperwork by October 27th.
