The Democratic nominee in the Houston sheriff's race has been decided. However a yet-to-be-named Republican candidate could be waiting in the wings.
Republican officials will meet later this month to select a sheriff's candidate for the November election.
Edward Gibson was the only republican to qualify for the position, but he died last month.
The Houston County Republican steering committee will meet June 26 and members will vote on a new candidate.
Incumbent Sheriff Lamar Glover won the democratic nomination by out-polling Ashford Assistant Police Chief Eddie Ingram by 12 votes.
Ingram decided Wednesday not to contest election results.
