While moving inmates, a corrections officer noticed scratch marks and an indentation on a jail cell bar.
A search of the cell later revealed a small hack saw among the possessions of inmate Gregory Antonio Patterson.
Patterson has been charged with escape second and has a $50,000 bond.
Sheriff Hughes says this is the first escape attempt during his tenure and the office is looking into revised visitation rules.
The Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation to find how the blade made it into the jail. Patterson has denied knowledge of any involvement.
