Bright Suspends Campaign Because of Sister's Death

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright has temporarily suspended his campaign for Congress in Alabama's 2nd
District because of the death of a sister.

Bright's sister, Shirley Woodham of Ozark, died Sunday after a long illness. Woodham's death comes a little over a month after the Aug. 31 death of Bright's brother, Harvey Bright of Dothan.

Bright, a Democrat, has canceled his campaign activities until Thursday. Alabama Republican Party Chairman Mike Hubbard also canceled a news conference Monday to discuss the 2nd District race because of the death of Bright's sister.
