Cottonwood Community in Grief

Wednesday evening, an accident claimed the lives of three people from Cottonwood. Area residents are feeling the loss and remembering the people who meant so much to them.

Thirty-one-year-old Lisa McDaniel, 10-year-old Johnny McDaniel and, nine-year-old Caleb Wise were all killed in the wreck.

Fourteen-year-old Nicole Sheffield was also in the SUV and remains in a local hospital.

The driver, Kenneth McDaniel, was arrested and charged with three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.

Several people that knew the family are remembering the McDaniels and wise with fond memories.

They say the mother was very involved with her children’s lives and that the boys rode their bikes and skateboards around town.

"Of course little Caleb Wise, he was such a sweet heart of a boy. He and I just hit it off with one another and whenever he saw me he said "Hey Bro. John and he just rushed over and so he and I hugged. And I didn't know that it was the last time I'd hug him." s aid Rev. John Smith.

The pastor said the McDaniels have another teenaged daughter who was not with the family in the accident. She is staying with family.
