VALDOSTA, Ga. (AP) -- Two people are dead after a fiery crash on Interstate 75 near Valdosta that required police to shut down some lanes of traffic.

The Valdosta Daily Times reports that witnesses saw a car burst into flame Saturday after it slammed into a concrete support for an overpass bridge.

Lowndes County deputy coroner Walter Wacter says two people in the car were killed, but their names were not immediately released.

No other vehicles were reported damaged in the crash.

But traffic on the highway slowed to a crawl as several lanes were closed.

Georgia Department of Transportation spokesman Craig Solomon says there was no structural damage to the overpass.
