Election Brief: Henry Co. Sheriff

There will be a run-off between democratic candidates, Dexter Grimsley and Will Maddox on July 18 and Mark Jones wins the republican ticket in the Henry County sheriff's race with 61% of the vote.

Billy Barnes wins with 43 percent of the vote in the district three races. Kip Platt beats out his opponent Billy John Hudspeth with 41 percent of the vote and in the district four race. Roger Scott wins with 33 percent of the vote.

One of the most watched races in Henry County is that for probate judge.

County Sheriff Lawton Ed Armstrong is among the four candidates seeking that office.

In the end, Jo Ann Smith turned out on top of the democratic probate judge race with 2416 votes over Lawton Ed Armstrong's 2266 votes.

The republican winner is Gary Smith.

In the coroner's race, Derek L. Wright beat out his opponent Charles M. Money taking 53 percent of the vote.
