The 7th annual red beans and rice luncheon was held at the First United Methodist Church. The event is part of National Hunger Awareness Day.
The food was prepared by the Association of Culinary Professionals and included sausage, peach cobbler, good old fashioned corn bread, and of course red beans and rice.
President of the Association for Culinary Professionals Michael Sigler said, "That's why we do it as a fundraiser. It helps the Wiregrass area for the better and helps to get everyone in the community to help with the organization."
The Wiregrass Area Food Bank is a non-profit agency that serves five counties in Alabama as well as parts of Northwest Florida and Southwest Georgia.
