Hartford Neighborhood Watch

A long-time Wiregrass law enforcement officer is working to establish a neighborhood watch program in his city.

During several organizational meetings, Hartford Police Chief Greg Adams, says he's getting strong community support:

The chief says the program is instrumental in increasing the eyes and ears of law enforcement - it's where neighbor watches out for neighbor.

Chief Adams says statistics indicate crime is relatively low in rural, central Geneva County, but, it's still a good program to implement.

"Our crime rate is low... we have a few violent crimes. But most of our problem is the nagging crimes. Inconvenience type... disturbances... people getting tired of looking at suspicious activity," said Chief Adams.

Chief Adams will host a neighborhood watch organizational meeting on Saturday, June 10th at the Johnny Hughes community center. It'll get underway at four in the afternoon.
