Dothan VFW Club

Local veterans gathered Monday to remember family and friends lost during times of war.

The group paid tribute to those in and retired from the armed services.

The ceremony was a chance for veterans to garner support from those who have shared similar experiences

Local high school color guards participated in the event, in addition to several speakers representing the city of Dothan and Houston County.

Veterans say the Memorial Day service is important because without the memories of those who have sacrificed their lives, little progress has been made.

Local veterans hold a fish fry at the VFW post on Taylor Road each Friday.

They invite members of the community to come enjoy in fellowship and remember those who are fighting overseas.
