Country music legend John Anderson will entertain attendees at the Annual Retiree Picnic Thursday, October 9th, 2008 in the Family Park at the Enterprise Recreational Complex on Highway 167 North.
The legendary artist, whose hits include Seminole Wind, Swingin’, and I’m Just An Old Chunk of Coal, will perform for retirees during the midday event.
The Grammy Award winning Anderson has been honored with the Academy of Country Music’s Career Achievement Award, the Country Music Association’s Album of The Year Award, Single of The Year, and Song of The Year Awards for Swingin’, which was cited as one of the all-time top-forty jukebox hits—placing Anderson right along side legendary artists like The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and Patsy Cline.
The annual picnic is hosted by the Retiree Committee of The Enterprise Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and is one of several events presented each year to show support and appreciation for the area’s growing retirement community. A barbeque lunch will also be served and many local organizations and businesses will have information tents and displays to inform attendees of the many opportunities retirees have in the community.
Enterprise has been designated a “Retiree Model City” and has been featured in many national publications as one of the best places for retirement because of many “quality of life” factors, such as good health care, low cost of living, and mild climate.
Coffee County was recently named one of the 10 best places to live in rural America by a national publication, which has drawn interest from baby boomers around the country who are retired or near retirement.
Tickets for the event are free to retirees living in the Enterprise area, but are limited. Retirees can pick up tickets at the Chamber office during business hours, Monday through Friday, from 7:30AM till 4:30PM.
Vendor spaces may obtained from Retiree Committee member Sam Boswell, who is providing the barbeque and entertainment. John Anderson ‘s performance is sponsored by Ronnie Gilley Entertainment.
