The Bay County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on September 16, 2008, at about 5:28 pm in reference to a burglary in progress. Deputies responded to the home at 6313 Boatrace Road in Callaway.
The owner of the home stated to deputies that he had been in his bedroom watching television when he heard a noise outside his home. He opened his front door and surprised two men standing outside. The owner noticed that the men carried several pairs of new shoes in their hands and recognized the shoes as having been stolen from his home. The owner of the home valued the shoes at about $400.00. One of the men fled the yard. The owner was able to detain the other man.
Through investigation, deputies were able to determine that the men entered the home through a back door with the intent to steal money. After they failed to find any money, they decided to take the shoes. Deputies placed the detained suspect Denzel S. Rolack, DOB 4/9/92, of 6201 Pridgen Street in Callaway, under arrest and charged him with Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling and Grand Theft.
Further investigation revealed that the other suspect, identified as Reko Montrel Watson, DOB 4/27/84, had plans to go to a residence on Pridgen Street later in the evening to get his belongings and leave town. Deputies set up surveillance and took Watson into custody when he arrived that evening at about 7 pm. Watson was also charged with Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling and Grand Theft.
