No Golf Carts on City Streets

During these times of fuel shortages and high gas prices, authorities in one Wiregrass city are saying no to one form of transportation.

For safety reasons, Florala officials do not want to see golf carts on city streets.

Police Captain Mark Anderson says it is a state law and each time someone jumps in a golf cart and heads down the road, he or she is breaking the law.

Several residents say they are forced to find alternative transportation because of soaring fuel costs and senior citizens say they're too old to ride bikes.

However, those who use golf carts on city streets risk being ticketed in Florala.

A national study shows that around 1000 people are treated for injuries received during golf cart accidents.
