Two local military installations are getting top honors from Washington for its operations.
Pensacola Naval Air Station and the Air Force's Hurlburt Field are among five installations nationally named as the best bases in the Department of Defense.
Both are located in the Florida Panhandle. Other winners of the 2003 Commander in Chief's annual award for installation excellence are in Okinawa, Japan; Havelock, North Carolina; and the Philadelphia Defense Supply Center.
The winners will be honored during a ceremony May 2 at the Pentagon. The Pensacola Base is headquarters for the Navy's education and training command.
