Preacher used Summer blockbusters to preach gospel

MANASSAS, Va. (AP) - Members of the congregation at Christ
Chapel Mountaintop in Manassas, Virginia, can leave their 3-D
glasses at home now that summer is over.

Senior pastor Rob Seagears had been basing his sermons on the
summer's movie blockbusters, and dressing up like a character from
the highest-grossing film each week.

Seagears says churchgoers chuckled when he clomped onto the
stage in camouflage and combat boots, carrying a rifle and machete
like a character in "Tropic Thunder." But he says there was
"complete silence" when he bumbled out as the Joker, wearing a
ratty wig, a blood-red smile across his face and acting like he was
evil.

He told The Washington Post that his Summer Cinema Series was
his way to make the church more relatable to people's lives.
