Peanut growers across the south got some welcome news Thursday.
The government has agreed to continue to foot the bill for storing and handling crops.
Congressman Jack Kingston of Georgia introduced the bi-partisan amendment which was approved by the House appropriations committee on Tuesday.
The federal government has been picking up the tab since the passage of the 2002 farm bill, which was supposed to come to an end with the 2006 crop.
This would have cost Georgia growers alone $43 million.
