Improvements Instore for Highway 231

A city-wide meeting will be held tonight in Dothan to get your opinion on making improvements to Highway 231.

Leaders with the Alabama Department of Transportation say a stretch of the road between Westgate Parkway and Napier Field Road has become a problem over the past few years as more developments take place.

The solution includes adding a lane next year and implementing a new access management plan to control the flow of vehicles coming onto the highway.

They want you as a citizen to get involved.

A city-wide session will be held Thursday night at five at the Westgate Rec Center.

The Department of Transportation will be there to answer any questions.

We want Dothan to grow with new industry and development, therefore, we should be foreward-minded and anticipate the needs that come with increased population and demand. Highways and safe access roads are a necessary part of this growth and should be a one of the top priorities, because I assure you others who are considering a relocation to Dothan consider it.
