A Jacksonville-based Winn-Dixie store is selling 21 stores to 14 undisclosed buyers after a successful auction.
The stores are part of the 35 locations closed earlier this year after an evaluation of the company's business.
Many of the stores are in south Florida and Alabama, including the closure of the store in Ozark.
The company says the closings are intended to enhance Winn-Dixie’s financial performance and help position it for profitability as it prepares to emerge from bankruptcy this fall.
The president and CEO says most of the Winn-Dixie employees working at the closed stores were hired at other company stores.
Winn-Dixie now operates 538 supermarkets in Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia and Mississippi.
