Dothan Board of Education Welcomes New Member

A new member was sworn into the Dothan City School Board Tuesday evening.

Franklin Jones will replace Margaret Johnson in the district two seat.

He retired two years ago, has spent 35 years in education. 27 of those years were spent in Dothan City Schools, mainly in alternative education.

"I have been sitting out here watching them(board members) for years, so being here is not difficult for me," Jones said. "I still got butterflies from this first meeting and I am just trying to breathe right now. It's very interesting, and we have a lot of work to do here in our district."

Jones is replacing Margaret Johnson, who resigned to be part of the Faine-Grandview Project to improve services for the two Dothan elementary schools.
