Arrests Made in Area School Break-ins

Police say an addiction to crack cocaine may have driven a Geneva man to break-in to vending machines.

Thirty-eight-year-old Charles Johnson reportedly broke into the soft drink machine in the cafeteria at Geneva Middle School.

He faces burglary and criminal mischief charges stemming from break-ins' at Mulkey Elementary as well.

The vandalism began in June and police began all-night stake outs over recent weeks.

A Geneva officer spotted a suspicious vehicle in the high school parking lot, which turned into a foot chase resulting in the arrest.

Johnson was booked into the Geneva County Jail on a dozen charges each of burglary and criminal mischief.

He is also a person of interest in several other vandalism cases around town.
