Suspended HealthSouth CEO Richard Scrushy asked a judge to unfreeze some assets so he can pay his lawyers.

The Securities and Exchange Commission is expected to refuse the request Friday. The agency contends Scrushy shouldn't be able to use proceeds of his alleged ill-gotten gains to defend himself.

A judge limited Scrushy to $15,000 for the next two weeks for living expenses and to pay the bills of 11 companies he control.

That order expires April 9, unless it's renewed.
