Washington County officials describe Chance Road, outside of Chipley, as one of the worst dirt highways in the area.
Over the weekend Tropical Storm Fay brought plenty of rain all across northwest Florida. Ruts and potholes appear whenever there is a lot of rain.
James and Marie Yohn live at the end of Chance Road and they say the roadway can damage a vehicle's suspension and wheel alignment.
County motor graders are working around the clock to keep vehicles moving.
Washington County EMA Director, Roger Dale Hagan, said "Everyone is anxious to get their road passable…we are working as fast as we can."
Officials say additional rain from Gustav next week could make a bad road situation.
