Teenager Sentenced to Seven Months at a Boot Camp

A Houston County teenager has been sentenced to seven months at a boot camp after hitting and killing a Cottonwood High School Coach.

Nineteen-year-old James Tyler Johnson was sentenced earlier Tuesday morning.

In late 2003, police say Johnson ran a stop sign near his home at the Avon-Battle Road intersection and rammed into 40-year-old Eddie Vicker's car, killing him.

Three other passengers riding with Johnson were also seriously injured.

If he gets out on good behavior he'll have five years probation.

There's a pending civil case, but Johnson has also has been ordered to pay $5,000, plus funeral bills, medical bills, and any other monies to the Vickers family and families of his passengers.
