Tropical Storm Fay May Affect Cotton Crops

Despite several inches of rain expected over the next 3-days, cotton farmers are not currently concerned about damaging crops.

Cotton crops run into trouble when a lengthily period of rain washes pollen off the flower, preventing future cotton bulb growth.

Cotton harvest begins in mid to late October and runs through November.

Cotton requires warm temperatures at the beginning of the growth season to provide an adequate amount of growing days.
