A Houston County jury was taken to the scene of a crime Wednesday morning.

Thirty-nine-year-old Robert Wills is charged with murder in the death of 15-year-old Whitney Lake.

She was killed last January when Wills flipped his truck into a creek, while allegedly trying to get away from a Houston County sheriff's deputy.

Court officials and jurors viewed the scene of the mishap Wednesday morning.

Testimony in the case continues on Thursday.

He was her legal guardian and officer did not identify himself when he shined his spotlight in his face - so out of fear, he fled - by traveling too fast to get away from the cop, he slid on wet pavement on a turn and after trying to compensate, his backend went off the road and over the bank, flipped and landed in the water. He is devastated that his actions caused the Whitney to die.

I'm somewhat confused about the relationship between the teen that was killed and the man on trial. Was he her stepfather or was she just living with him and his family? The articles and comments that I have read give conflicting information concerning this. Was her mother married to this guy or what? It seems odd to me that he would just leave the scene just because he didn't like the tone of the officer. He evidently had something to hide.
