The Wiregrass Museum of Art is a fun, low cost activity you and your family can enjoy.
Organizers are trying to create new programs to entice visitors from the surrounding area to come check out what they have to offer for every age group.
One regularly scheduled event they offer is "Art After Hours."
Susan Robertson with the Museum says that it provides an opportunity for young professionals to come after work to view the new exhibits and participate in art projects themselves.
The next "Art After Hours" is Thursday, August 21st.
Admission is $5 or free for museum members.
The museum also offers several opportunities for kids with the Children's Discovery Room, Art Workshops and a number of activities throughout the museum's galleries.
"It's a wonderful way to stimulate creative thinking," says Robertson, "It's a wonderful educational process through the visual arts."
The museum is also having a big fundraising event coming up, the 8th annual "Yard Party for Art."
It's an outdoor concert with local bands, "Dear Abby" and the "Circle City Rollers" on the lawn of the museum.
Kelly Turner with the Wiregrass Museum of Art says, "It is a wonderful time to come support the museum, it's a wonderful time to support downtown Dothan and to get an idea of what's going on and have a great night out."
The Yard Party was originally scheduled for Saturday, August 23rd, but will be rescheduled because of potential rain from Tropical Storm Fay.
