Houston County Volunteer Firefighters Receive Money

State Senator Harri Anne Smith and representatives from the Alabama Forestry Commission presented an annual check to each Houston County Volunteer Fire Department Tuesday.

Each Department received $1,922.69.

The only other revenue the departments get is from monthly tobacco tax and $30 service fees from cities, excluding Dothan.

"The forestry money that we get each year has been a longstanding project for our legislation, says President of the Houston County Volunteer Firefighter Association Charles Reneau. "It is very important to understand that they support us, and in turn we support them for what they do for us."
